3G services introduced in India by MTNL & Motorola

India's leading telecom service provider - Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), today launched the first 3G services in India.

The service was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Minister for Communications & IT, Mr. A. Raja, at India Telecom 2008.

The country’s first video call was enabled by Motorola’s 3G network. Motorola’s MOTORAZR2 V9 Ferrari Special Edition mobile phone was employed for the call.

With this launch of 3G services, MTNL’s customers in New Delhi and Mumbai can experience few high end services like high speed data transfers, video streaming & conferencing, mobile TV, video mobile surveillance and mobile internet broadband.
